Blue screen after power outage

I'm trying to solve a problem with a mac mini. Following a power outage, I haven't been able to boot up the system.

On startup, the gray screen appears with the apple icon and the spinning clock. the blue screen follows saying loading operating system or something to that affect. It gets to about half way and then stops. I then see a blue screen. The spinning clock will appear randomly but the system never fully boots.

Additional information:
-Booting to safe mode doesn't work it gets to the same point and then hangs.
-I've run the disc utilities off of the hardware check discs everything appears fine
-I've run the disc utility through the operating system installation disc
-I've reset the pmu
-It is plugged into my home network and I can access the hard drive from my powerbook

Should I reinstall the OS? any other ideas??

thanks.

If you are stalled at the blue screen, it is most likely to be related to a service that has failed to load.

A common blue screen stall/crash cause is related to network services. If you are using Ethernet, try disconnecting the cable if it's connected or vice versa...and then, try restarting. If this work, make sure to check your network connection settings to verify that they are correct.

Another cause of blue screen stalls/crashes are corrupt Unix or /System/Library files. Since you are unable to startup in Safe Mode, you should try a startup in Single User Mode.

- Shut down your computer.
- Press the power button and immediately press and hold the Command and S keys to start up in Single-User mode.
- When you see white text appear on the screen, let go of the keys.
- At the prompt, type mount -uw /
- Press Return.
- Then type mv /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow.plist preferences2.old
- Press Return.
- Type mv /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist preferences3.old
- Press Return.
- Type reboot
- Press Return

If this doesn't help, you may want to reload the OS.

I am having the exact same issue, took it to apple today and they can get it to boot on their monitor, but at home on the Viewsonic it still won't work. I reinstalled the system and that did nothing. Nelda
