Refurbished iPhone 5

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying an Apple certified refurb iPhone 5 and was wondering if the phones are any good?

Will they have any marks on them and what about battery life, will it be poor as it is a used product and been through many charge/discharge cycles?

Thanks

Refurbished iPhones meet the same standards as the new ones. Some users even think they are more reliable, because Apple techs took extra care to make sure that all parts of the phone are in perfect condition. I had two refurbished phones, an 3G and 4s, and I did not find a difference to a new one. Both in excellent condition and still working. And the batteries on those devices is brand-new, by the way.

From where, exactly? So far as I am aware, Apple doesn't sell refurbished iPhones at all. The only way to get a "refurbished" iPhone is as an out of warranty replacement when you turn in one that's physically damaged or out of warranty. They carry a 90 day warranty or the balance of the original warranty for the phone that was replaced, whichever is longer.

Don't buy it. You're being scammed.

T-mobile in my country also sells refurbished Apple devices in their online shop.

Verizon also sells refurbished iPhones, mostly for prepaid service. However, they are refurbished by a company contracted by Verizon and warrantied by Verizon, not Apple. I bought one years ago, my first iPhone, an iPhone 4. It was half the price of new and was still working a few months ago until the person I sold it to dropped it. So, it's not necesarily a bad thing to do. However, Verizon did not represent them as "Apple Certified".

I have just spoken to Apple UK customer services and they assured me that

the iPhone 5 is a genuine Apple pre-owned device and that it will have 12

month warranty with Apple care. They treat the pre-owned items as new ones

and expect them to last as long as a new device, they get a new shell,

battery and anything else that needs replaced.

I had a defective iPhone5S. With Verizon's insurance/replacement plan, I received a refurbished phone. It was also defective. Hideously long story made short, I have now received 5 defective iPhone 5's within 10 months. You read that correctly- FIVE. Replacement #5 (the one in my hand) lasted 5 days before the problems (crashing apps and no sound), and I am now awaiting #6. Apple provided diagnostics and confirmed software and hardware issues with #3 and #4. #5 seems just software.

Verizon's response: "Hey, don't look at us. Apple makes defective products. We would be happy to sell you an iPhone 6, and and don't even think about getting a discount on it since is not our fault. Please contact Apple.

Your question is not really related to the original post so it would be more polite to start your own thread. Of course, I'm not sure what you expect anyone here to be able to do for you as this is a user-to-user support forum.
