10.10.2 Combo update "can't be installed on this disk"

Running the 10.10.2 Yosemite combo update on three different machines.

Get to the point where the dialog allows me to "select a destination".

ALL volumes have a yellow exclamation point that says:

"OS X Update Combined can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."

What are the requirements? I do have FV2 running on boot volumes. Is that it? Must I decrypt to install?

Topher Kessler, who used to be c|net’s Apple tech reporter, has started his own website dedicated to troubleshooting Macs and OS X. He has posted an article on how to force the 10.10.2 updaters to install. Below is the link...

http://www.macissues.com/2015/01/28/how-to-force-os-x-10-10-2-to-install-on-your -mac/

The BIG caveat though is that disabling the version check routine will result in the update installing over ANY version of OS X. Imagine what would happen if you installed the Yosemite combo update over a running Mavericks installation. I don’t even want to think about it. So he warns to make absolutely sure you are installing over 10.10.0 or 10.10.1.

It's pretty clear Apple has now re-released this Update.

Original 10.10.2 Combo Update released on the 27th of January was

Comparing the 2 packages - Line 35 in the Distribution file has been changed:

if (compareBuildVersions(my.target.systemVersion.ProductBuildVersion, '14B24') > 0) {

now reads:

if (compareBuildVersions(my.target.systemVersion.ProductBuildVersion, '14C109') > 0) {

I also could not install the OS 10.10.2 Combo Updater on either of my machines running OS 10.10.1. So, I just went ahead and used the 10.10.2 non-Combo Updater. Of course that worked, but why did Apple do this? In ALL my years of using Combo Updaters, have never had this issue. That is, the Combo Updater for any prior OS could be applied to any version of that OS. Example: the OS 10.9.5 Combo Updater was able to be applied to 10.9.0 (or 10.9), 10.9.2, 10.9.2, 10.9.3, and 10.9.4.

Hopefully, going forward with future Combo Updaters for Yosemite will work as in the past.

I have this error also, I have the 14B25 build of Yosemite 10.10.1 on a MacBook Pro 13" 2012 with the i7 CPU, I also see this error on several other machines, this is the first time I see something like this happen with an upgrade from Apple, all other updates have been flawless. I downloaded the combo update to save on download to other machines but the same error is showing on all machines, but i have not tried an an old Macbook that I have.
