Does buying more storage effect my phone plan?

iPhone 5s Operating System: 8.1.3

I want to purchase more storage for iCloud but I wanted to know if buying more storage will effect my plan with AT&T. Does Apple just charge me directly and this has nothing to do with AT&T? Please advise. Thank you!
