Q: In the Ap Store "Updates" window, it says that "Remote Desktop Client Update" was installed today.  I never intentionally installed "Remote Desktop".  How did it get there, Where is it on my computer, and How can I remove it?  Thank You!

Hi, same behaviour here. Could it be an update for all of us And not only for Apple Remote Desktop ( or A.R.A) users ?

I don't have this software. But updated !

Seems like we all could have been given this "control your computer remotely" software secretly and hidden in our OS so that the NSA, or whoever, can eavesdrop on all of our files.  (You know how they hate the extra security of Macs!)  After all, how can I have a program update unless I have the program!!!

I am an investigative journalist and I had the same thing happen about ten years ago.  I walked in on my computer after is was unattended for awhile and found the mouse arrow moving all over the place and the program "Timbuktu" (remote control) in my OS, that I did not put there!  (A sensitive classified document from the Kennedy administration that I had just received, and stupidly failed to print immediately, was gone!)

I don't know if you have been there, but a very suspicious icon!  (Like this one on a NSA satellite: http://b-i.forbesimg.com/kashmirhill/files/2013/12/Satellite-logo-for-spying.jpg)  Yikes!

Are they after the French too?!?  I thought we were allies?!?  Wait a minute . . . I'm an American citizen with the Constitutional Right (which they vowed to uphold when they took their job!) of privacy!!!

What do you think of all this?

How did you find it in the OS?

Do I just trash it with "Secure Empty"?

We are not terrorists ( uho, I am not, are you ? ) I try not to be paranoid. We all have something to hide. More or less. They know it.

For this file, if you feel insecure with it, try to delete it but I'm not sure it is really harmfull. French are/were the goal of your NSA ( well  known )

    I'm waiting answers from Apple.

I found it with filebuddy.app, a search with "ardagent.app" ( the "name" I saw in disk utilities' permission repair ).

This is an update to the client for Apple remote desktop, it's a part of the OS. If you have Sys Prefs > sharing > remote management checked, it will use this.

As odious as the NSA is, this isn't anything to do with remote spying. It's a client so that the Apple Remote Desktop software can function.
