Q: Keychain - Major Issue
Macbook Pro 15# Early 2011 - 16 GB ram - Recent Update to Yosemite 10.10.2
While I was still using 10.6.8 I got locked out of my admin access. The password I had used for years suddenly was not accepted. I found a workaround by logging in as an alternate admin ID I had setup when I started on this book.
After the workaround gave me admin priveledges I reset my admin password and had full access again...but then I started to receive pop-ups by applications demanding keychain access and required me to enter my password.
- I entered my admin password and was told it was incorrect.
- My solution was to reset my keychain completely with the full login access.
- The problem persisted but now my admin password was working so I carried on for a while.
- Updated ram, updated to Mavericks in the hopes this would kill the issue. Nope.
- I contiunued to enter my password 10-15 times a day for various applications for months now.
- Frustration is high so I updated to Yosemite yesterday in hopes again that there would be a fix in the OS. Nope.
- I decide to dig-in to the problem again. I follow this link OS X: Keychain Access asks for keychain "login" after changing login password - Apple Support and change my password, write it down, burn it into a wood board and hang it on the wall above my desk.
- After a short prayer, I open a fresh app and boom, there is the request for access again and guess what, my new password is not accepted, not only that, my Keychain access is now locked so I cannot make any changes.
Guess where I am now? That's right, back to the beginning.
Thank you for any and all help, try not to be too snide in your comments, I'm fragile at this stage and am hoping for a sure solution.
MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), OS X 10.10.2 not in dropdown yet!

Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
Change Settings for Keychain "login"
In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences... ▹ First Aid
There are four checkboxes in the window that opens. Check all of them. if they're not already checked. Close the window.
Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.
If you use iCloud Keychain, open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the Keychain box. You'll be prompted to delete the local iCloud keychain. Confirm. Then re-check the box. Follow one of the procedures described in this support article to set up iCloud Keychain on an additional device.
