Can I turn my iPad into primary phone?

URGENT!

I forgot my iPhone in Guatemala yesterday, and won't be able to get it back for a month. I have a sim enabled phone, just never used it other than wifi. Carrier for phone is T-Mobile.

In your statement, "I have a sim enabled phone, just never used it other than wifi. Carrier for phone is T-Mobile" by phone did you mean iPad?

If so, an iPad can't be used as a phone. If you wish to make phone calls from it you will need an app like Skype installed.

If you are talking about using another phone with your iPad via the iOS 8 Continuity feature note that this only works with iPhones.

True, but they would need to pay for the Cellular Data Plan for the iPad, and then The Skype Plan to call cell and landlines on top of that.

And while Skype prices are cheap, it may add up.

Also people will not be able to respond to SMS messages sent through Skype directly.

Basically while it does offer several features of traditional Cell service, it may not cover all the bases.

I'd say it would be easier to simply have the carrier transfer the service to a cheap phone while a new phone can be acquired.
