Automation zoom bug

When I hit ´a´ and automation appear Logic zoom out all the tracks.

Is there a way to stop logic from zooming any tracks - including the one you have selected when choosing ´a´ ?

I´m getting dizzy of all this zooming !

Just want to individually zoom a track and when hitting ´a´ that single track shows automation if its zoomed out enough - no auto zoom please..

Oddly enough the only way i can reproduce this issue as you describe it... is if I hit the A and Z keys at the same time.... as the Z key is the one that turns on Zoom...

So.. Maybe there are two possibilities..

1) You have somehow assigned the A key to both Automation and Zoom..... Check your Key Commands...

2) When you press the A key you are also pressing the Z key.... or somehow the two keys are physically connected together.. (maybe some dirt between the keys...? )

Otherwise I cannot recreate the issue under 10.1 and 10.10.2

Time to trash your preferences i think....

Delete both the Main prefs and the CS prefs as per these instructions..

Delete the user preferences

You can resolve many issues by restoring Logic Pro X back to its original settings. This will not impact your media files. To reset your Logic Pro X user preference settings to their original state, do the following:

  1. Quit Logic Pro
  2. In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
  3. Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
  4. Press the Go button.
  5. Remove the com.apple.logic10.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro X User Manual for details on how to do this. If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro X, then you may also wish to delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
  6. If you have upgraded from an earlier version of Logic Pro, you should also remove ~/Library/Preferences/Logic/com.apple.logic.pro.
  7. Restart the computer.

Note: If you cannot find either of these files then you didn't follow the instructions exactly as written 🙂

Mine zooms vertically a little because it has to so you can get full movement when setting points in Automation.. and so you see the Automation controls in the track header but it's not as drastic as yours....

What i don't see is that huge Piano icon like in your shot but maybe that was Because you were in GB mode?

Try a new Project now you are in LPX Mode...

I checked all my key commands. I even tried ´learning´ a new key for automation.

But problem still here. Every time I hit ´a´ automation appear and all tracks zoom out equally. (they zoom back again when hitting ´a´ again)

If I zoom out/in the track header with the mouse - then when I hit ´a´ Logic always zoom the track out to the last zoom setting of the track.

Even if I just zoom the track out to fill half the screen - it always zooms it out a bit - and takes rest of the tracks with it.

Strange! - should I recall the key commands?

I have exactly the same problem since I upgraded to Logic 10.1.

It's very annoying.

Before, when I hit the A key, the selected track zoomed in to edit automation.

Now, in Logic 10.1, when I hit the A key, there is no zoom, but in each track I can see an yellow box that toggles between "Region" and "Track" automation.

Then, when I hit the A key again, the yellow boxes disappear and all tracks are zoomed in, without the possibility to edit automation!

It's very confusing!

Ok no panic 🙂

Just turned advanced tools on again and it all was back to normal😉

BUT - it did not fix my original zoom problem

Does your Logic do the same when hitting ´a´

You see - it zooms the tracks out - even if I, before hitting ´a´ had manually zoomed both track out to huge size - it always zoom the tracks out when hitting ´a´.

And zooms them all back again when hitting ´a´ again.

Not funny when working 5 hours every day with this stuff..😠
