Macbook Pro mid 2010, internet recovery?

Does the mid 2010 macbook pro have the internet recovery mode?

I installed an HDD from an old notebook in my mbp mid 2010, started the computer while pressing cmd alt r and all it did was start windows (which was installed in the hdd)

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), null

Yes it does, but you have to have the recovery partition already installed on your hard drive. Yosemite is free, but to use it you have to reformat the drive you installed. Do you have another mac you can use? you can use your apple id to go to the app store and download yosemite. do not open it. You can start your macbook into windows? Mac's need bootcamp to do that. You could use target disk mode between the two mac's, but you need firewire to do it. Otherwise you need to make a bootable install disk to install on the Macbook Pro.http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372 andhttp://support.apple.com/en-us/HT1661 andhttp://support.apple.com/kb/ph3838

But the drive he has installed has windows on it. No GUID partition. And it's a 2010 Macbook Pro that probably came with 10.6 Are you trying to tell me that even if there is no OS at all ,it can still be downloaded and installed from the internet. I thought you had to have at least a 2011 or newer. I just read the link. Very interesting, you learn something ever day.

The original question was does it have internet recovery? You answered yes it does and I corrected that to state that it only does IF he had done the firmware update. You then stated that he had to have a recovery partition on the drive first, again I corrected that explaining that internet recovery is for bare drives with no recovery or os.

To access internet recovery, IF your computer is capable, you press command-option-r or if there is no recovery partition available it should automatically go to the internet.
