My Grandpa forgot his pw so i did a reset with the 10.5 recovery disk. Now the system requires a login pw which never happened before. The new pw does not work. I deleted all keychain entries i could find in the library which didn’t solve the problem. I’m very frustrated and would be thankful for any help.

I deleted all the keychain entries in the Library by booting with an external system, that didn't work.
Meanwhile I was able to solve it by booting in secure mode (cmd+s) and using the commands described in the link.
