Feb 14, 2015 12:29 PM in response to principino1984by Stuart Dapples,Hi principino1984,
I've now fixed my other problems, 5S intermittently shutting down when I have full battery, or freezing, by completely disabling touch ID. A pain I know, but not as annoying as the other problems.
In my (humble) opinion, 8.1.3 completely stuffed up the Touch ID feature which has caused me grief with all the other problems.
I will not enable Touch ID again until the next update.

Feb 15, 2015 6:21 AM in response to Stuart Dapplesby principino1984,Well, I personally tried a DFU hard reset of my 5s and now the battery problem seems gone. I still have the touch Id problem. As soon as I tap to add a finger print I get "Error"
Unfortuntatelly my 5s it's just out of warranty otherwise I would send it right away. Let's hope that with ios 8.1.4 or 8.2 this touch id problem will be solved.

Feb 24, 2015 10:27 AM in response to Fedelopezfby applefan2976,I purchased a new iphone 6 on 02/21/2015 and it came with 8.1.2, registerd finger prints and TouchId working well.
Updated to IOS 8.1.3 and TouchID stopped working. Deleted all fingerprints and try to register again, but could not register as the registering stopped recognizing fingerprint corners. My first reaction was looking up this thread & started to panic that I need to take it to the Apple store (which is 100 miles away).
I restarted the phone and try registering fingerprints again. To my surprise, its working normally & I was able to successfully register in the first attempt. TouchID works fine for me after an normal restart. Just wanted to share my experience.

Mar 9, 2015 11:30 AM in response to Fedelopezfby sepandat,Hi, I had this problem as well. My TouchID wouldn't work, and I couldn't even register a new fingerprint. I saw Sherm's answer (it is posted earlier, but I will paste it here for ease of use):
"Ok guys looks like a reset is required of holding down the home button and on/off button for 3-4 seconds. After that the Touch ID works and will allow new scans to be registered."
I would like to add to the above, that when screen goes off, you have to let go of all buttons and press the power button as if you want to turn it on again.
It is now working, but I'm not sure if it's going to keep working, as prior to total meltdown of my TouchID, I could register the fingerprint, only to lose the functionality shortly after. So as much as I would like to be optimistic, the frustration I experienced the last few days is pushing me to pessimism.

Mar 9, 2015 11:32 AM in response to shermsby sepandat,Thanks Sherm, I used your technique and it is working so far. Just a small addition to anyone trying this out: if you see a blank black screen after performing the steps Sherm suggested, don't panic; you have to turn your iPhone back on by letting go of Home and power on/off button, and then press the power on/off button again.

Mar 9, 2015 10:45 PM in response to sepandatby robotMax,Do you try to go to Apple Retailer Store? What did Apple genius say?

Mar 10, 2015 8:02 AM in response to robotMaxby sepandat,Not yet, got the appointment with them in around a couple of hours time. Will update you with the outcome. Worse case scenario will be to exchange the phone, but I don't understand why this is happening, as I know the hardware isn't faulty, as it worked once and then stopped suddenly. Or it could be, I don't know

Mar 15, 2015 7:13 PM in response to robotMaxby sepandat,Didn't go there that day unfortunately. But it's started working again after a while, so I'm not sure what is going on! Did you have any updates? This is very confusing.
