Q: iCal won't sync to iPhone

I have an iPhone 6 and a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.9.5. When I add events to iCal on my macbook, they showup on my iPhone, but not the other way around. I read most of the old posts and the solutions don't match up with my computer. Most of them suggesting emptying the calendar cache, but I don't think I have that. Or doing something with iSync and I don't have that either.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

    Greetings pamelafromboulder,

Thanks for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like calendar entries are syncing from your MacBook Pro to your iPhone, but not the other way around.

If you're using the Calendar app on OS X Mavericks (10.9), and syncing your Mac and iPhone with iCloud, the troubleshooting advice in this article may be more helpful:

    All the best,

    Hi Jeremy,

How to solve this without iCloud?

I have the same issue and worked properly by syncing with iTunes and USB cable until a few weeks ago. I don't intend to sync my calendars through iCloud, I would like to do it old fashioned...

    Thanks in advance.

I've only just found this thread and posted my own query earlier today but this is the same problem that I am having - see "iTunes ical USB sync fail" - any ideas yet?

I'm continuously browsing all topics here and also elsewhere, but no solution so far.

If you find something useful, please post it here as well.

Will do. I assume that it's going to be "a feature to be removed at the next release!!"

I would hate it, but I will leave the Apple university when they will force me to synchronise even all my calendar entries through iCloud.

I simply don't like the idea of the public cloud solutions and I'm not using it, and don't want to use it in the future either.

It is strange anyway, as it works in one direction (from Mac to phone), but not the other way round.

I was trying to change the settings on my phone/mac and see what happens. I switched off all iCloud stuff to be synced, and I now I can't even start a sync in iTunes because "sync session can't be started". So calendar syncing between two apple products with a direct HW link (a USB cable) is not possible anymore. You want ALL of my life, even my calendar entries in your cloud...

I don't say what I would like to say as it would be replaced with ****.

    This is embarrassing, dear Apple.

I'm so on board with this.  The cloud is fine for business applications, but just adds a level of confusion, loss of privacy and increased expense with personal use.  Being unable to sync via hardline feels more like bullying than providing a good product.

Its so difficult to find this thread of thoughts about this syncing problems.  iCal is like diary of my life, I don't want to use iCloud!!! I used to sync my iPhone, iPad and Macbook calendars thru USB, now i got to key in all manually!!! Take about going high tech.., I'm going stone age.  Is it CONFIRM that iCal will not be able to sync thru USB??? This happens before years back and I have to waste money for long distance call to the hotline to fix the problem. I almost going to make call again until I found this post.... I'm going wait to hear on the confirmation on this syncing saga.  If Apple not going to bring back USB sync for iCal for all Apple products, I got to kiss bye bye for all Apple products and take orange

    Hi Jeremy,

I use iCloud and I've never had any difficulties, but since the recent upgrades, I can't sync via iCloud or USB.   Thanks for the link, but it isn't helping
