Q: Can I use a non WiFi printer with my Macbook Air?

I have a Canon PIXMA MP490 that is not WiFi capable. Can I use this with my Macbook Air?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

From what I read, I need to use a WiFI printer...just asking if this is true.

Your MacBook Air has a USB 3.0 port(maybe 2 depending on the size) and you PIXMA MP490 has a USB 2.0 connection

there should be backwards compatibility in the connection - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_3.0#Connectors
