MacBook Air Logic Board Issues

My girlfriend bought a refurbished MacBook Air, 2012 (from apple) in early 2014. In October, she started having issues with it not waking from sleep without a forced restart. We brought it to the apple store and they replaced the logic board. Now, for the last couple months, the computer will randomly shut down for no reason. We took it to the Apple store again. And again we were told it needs a new logic board. The shutting down has gotten to the point where the computer is barely useable.

It's absolutely ridiculous that it's needed two logic board replacements within a year of owning it.

Is this a known, common, issue? What are our options?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

You have to take it back to the Apple store again and let them check it again.

We can't help with this. Lightning does strike twice so you might just be unlucky but the problem might be more involved so when you go in you might ask the genius to look more closely at the case and cables to see if there's a contributing factor.

Currently there is a class action law suit against Apple due to faulty logic boards. I found the article looking for upgrade options for my daughters Mac Air. Hope this helps!

This applies to a specific MacBook Pro computer model, not MacBook Air. Further that lawsuit was dismissed by the judge in January.

I spoke with Apple customer service today and they acknowledged a problem with the logic board. She also stated they would replace it free of charge if we had any problems with it. Mac Air has in fact had the same issue, although the lawsuit was about Mac pro, so you are correct.

Same here.

I definitely lost confidence in Apple.

Purchased a Macbook Air Dec. 2014 from the store, had issue with the logic board after 2 months of barely using it. They fixed it.

Now 7 months later, same problem.

Is this a way to force me to purchase AppleCare?

Very disappointing.
