    OK, Avast gone.

    Now:

    1. Divx is not good (yet) in Yosemite. Uninstall.

    2. You are infected with adware: download  AdwareMedic from  thesafemac.com: install and run. That s all to remove the adware.

    3. Growl: uninstall.

    4. Now in SystemPreferences->Users&Groups->LoginItems:   remove ALL entries, with the minus sign underneath: this does not uninstall anything, but does not start it everytime. Then restart. Do not use any app that was in the LoginItems. Use one at the time and you will find out soon enough which is no good. Uninstall that one(s).

    5. The mobility app is not good in Yosemite I think, uninstall it.

    6. In Finder in the   MacintoshHD->Library->LaunchDaemons   folder delete the  adobe.switchboard  plist.

    That is all. Should run perfectly well now. Let me know.

    couldnt figure out how to get rid of Growl, mobility app and also i cant find machd or library to delete adobe.switchboard. MBP otherwise is much quicker but still not as snappy as Maverick. Familiar with reducing the memory consumption of chrome helpers? Also not sure which is better Chrome canary or chrome? I would like to use safari but not possible  due to business programs and needed websites.

    Growl:

    1. Make sure that Growl is not running. Look for the Growl claw up by the clock on the menu bar.
    2. Go into your Applications folder. You can find this by clicking on the Go menu in Finder.
    3. Locate Growl.
    4. Send Growl to the Trash.
    5. Growl will now be in the Trash. Empty the Trash.

    You can also remove the following two files:

    • your Homefolder->Library/Preferences:   com.Growl.GrowlHelperApp.plist
    • your Homefolder->Library->ApplicationSupport   delete the Growl folder
    • CTL+click on the Growl applet in SystemPreferences and choose "remove".

    Mobility (Motorola):

    I have no knowledge of an uninstaller, thus by hand:

    In the etrecheck list they are all listed in the several folders: delete all those, then restart. Then empty the trash bin.

    MacintoshHD->System->Library->Extensions: one file (the others mentioned are inside that file)

    MacintoshHD->Library->LaunchAgents: three files

    MacintoshHD->Library->LauncDaemons: one file   (in this folder you will also find the adobe.Switchboard  file)

    Chrome:

    resource spiller, unsafe, but very fast (because of that), no real issues in Yosemite, still I propose to use Firefox or Opera instead: fast, safe.

    Unlocking File Vault takes a lot of time....

    1. Mobility still there. Remove. It still blocks all other apps.

    2. Uninstall Flux and remove it from the SystemPreferences->Users&Groups->LoginItems,  with the minus sign underneath.

    Restart. keep FileVault off. Until all slowness is gone.

    No files that are mentioned in my posts are hidden.

    The Homefolder-Library you find easily as follows:

    click your homefolder (yourname in the Finder sidebar), then click the "View" menu in Finder, in there select "ShowViewOptions", in there check "ShowLibraryFolder".

    After that your Library is visible in your homefolder.
