Q: Macbook air storage very weird

Dear Apple users,

I have an mid 2012 MB air 11.6 inch running yosemite 10.10.2 with an i5, 4g ram and 64gb ssd. I never download anything on it I just use it for school and other easy stuff. Recently I bought Adobe Photoshop CS6, which uses 700/800mb of storage. When I click on About this mac and go to storage it shows me this ( see picture ). How could it be that my storage says I have 23gb of programs on my MB? I don't have anything on my MB besides Photoshop, Dropbox ( which is only 2% used of the 50gb), and Bitdefender. I just don't understand it at all and that's why I ask you guys for help. Grtz.

   Re-index Macintosh HD.

   Spotlight reindexing will take a while to finish.

   System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy

   http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2409

   You will see a new category “Other” in the Storage Display.

Note:
If you don’t have Macintosh HD icon on the desktop,

Finder > Preferences > General > Show these items on the desktop:

Enable “Hard disks”.

I tried what you have advised me to do but when I booted into safemode my MB was very slow and I couldn't see what 'Other' was in storage. It only displayed the amount of 'Other' and not in parts. I only managed to fix the 23 gb program storage into 20gb Other storage, thank you for that. But I did not manage to clear the question marks in my head about my storage..

Don't look for storage in Safe Mode.

It won't show the correct info.

What else can I do to see what is using my storage that much without anything on my mb? I don't have that much pictures, movies or music etc.
