Jan 29, 2015 8:45 AM in response to YaelElizabethby SergZak,If you are trying to enable/send SMS messages on the iPad, you can't. It's not a phone and thus does not have the proper hardware so it cannot send SMS messages. It can however send & receive iMessages. See the following page:
Send messages with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Jan 29, 2015 6:33 PM in response to SergZakby cwagoner_1,I disagree. SMS messaging was working perfectly after the iOS 8 update and it only recently stopped working. My iPhone 4S and iPad 3 are updated to 8.1.3, though it started before the latest update. I can still make calls through the iPad, but cannot send SMS messages. It defaults to iMessage for contacts that are not iMessage compatible and there is no way to change it. It's like Apple turned the feature OFF one night...

Jan 29, 2015 6:44 PM in response to cwagoner_1by cwagoner_1,I think I found a solution:
I turned off iMessage on the iPad and then went to the iPhone 4S. In the Messages settings on the iPhone, the option for text message forwarding became available. Turned that back ON and everything is back to normal.
Hope that helps!
