iTunes extremely slow in "Extracting software"

I tried turned off fire wall and antivirus, it worked immediately 🙂

Thank you so much, this helped me restore/factory reset my ipad2. The restore was failing at the 'extracting software' step, my ipad was unusable for months! After reading this, I disabled Sophos antivirus and the factory reset completed succesfully. FINALLY! Can't believe how simple it was, but I just coud'nt find the answer before!

It sounds like your iPhone needs to be restored after an update wasn't applied correctly. I know it can be frustrating to have unexpected issues after a software update.

It can be difficult to say why the restore process is taking so long, and if it did not complete, I recommend troubleshooting your computer and iPhone starting from step 3 in this guide:

Disable Your Antivirus if you have 🙂

well it really is effective if you will try to disable your antivirus or firewall but make sure that you don't open any suspicious files or websites in order not to compromise your computer for any unwanted attacks. It may be risky though to disable the antivirus software but at least it can save time for iTunes to extract the software.

i found out a small fix to this problem... i clicked closed to the progress bar under the ''extracting software'' and magically it started moving...maybe it cld help

It is Because Your iphone backing up or Sync with PC/MAC

First wait for completing backup/sync or Cancel by Pressing (×) if you already have a Backup, Then Update Or Restore

I didn't expect this to work. I was at 10% for 15 minutes and tapped the progress bar and it flew up to about 80%! Thank you!🙂

You trying to uninstall iOS 11 beta too?

I am doing that as we speak and it’s going extremely slow too. I did it before and it was super quick. Now it’s taking forever!

I'm also trying to remove Ios 11 beta but it always get's stuck on extracting software. Have you found a fix ?
