SSD not recognised after failed Mavericks install

Okay, so I have been running Mountain Lion for the last few months on a new OWC 240gb SSD (I put the original HDD in a caddy replacing my optical drive). After I got word of Pro Tools now being supported for Mavericks, I decided I'd upgrade. It downloaded off the app store fine, and it started installing. It got about a 1/4 of the way through and seemed to stall, I figured these things happen so I left it, and left it, and left it. I eventually just left it to keep going while I went to bed but in the morning, still nothing had moved. I decide to hard boot. And in doing so, as it restarted I get a grey screen with a flashing folder. Awesome. I fire it up into internet recovery and open up disk utility, and my SSD isnt even available to verify / repair. I go to reinstall Mountain Lion and I can't chose it to install on either. I did some research and it could be that I need to do a firmware update on the OWC drive. So, I opened up disk utility, and split my original HDD into two partitions so I could reinstall Mountain Lion (just so I could get up and running properly). I go into my system information to see what revision the current firmware is on the OWC drive, and I cant extend the information like I used to be able to (and like I should be able to).

Any information or help would be much appreciated. I don't really want to buy a new SSD.

I have a Mid-2012 MacBook Pro, 15" 9,1.

Alright so I just tried to do a firmware update on the OWC drive, and it comes up with "no OWC SATA devices found". I think the installation has bricked the SSD. Anyway I can check it another way?

What happens if you take out the drive, install it in an enclosure and connect it to the MBP via USB? Boot the MBP with Option key down.

Where are downloading Mavericks from? Or did you mean Yosemite?

downloading mavericks (not Yosemite) from the purchased list on the App Store, it's legit. I'll try connecting it that way. It's very frustrating!

Hi. Don't know if you fixed you problem yet or not, but I have a link that has some things you may or may not have tried. First.I don't know what Pro Tool is, but I have had installs freeze or quit on me in the middle and lock me out of my system. AKA blinking question mark.http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203176

Might even try zapping the pram or even SMC reset Can't hurt. i"ve never used an SSD drive so I'm not the expert some of the other people out here are. I've read some post that say the internal hard drive cable can sometime be a problem. I even though calling the Apple app store or OWC for help might be good, if you haven't thought of it already. I've called OWC before and they are very helpful.

okay, so I havent gotten too much further, but one thing has changed. I just got home from work and turned it on, and the first thing that pops up is Disk Utility saying that the disk is un readable and do I want to initialise, ignore or eject. I clicked initialise cause I figured it was the best chance of getting the drive to function. And in the left hand side of Disk Utility, a 33kb SandForce disk popped up. Now I know its part of that disk.. Its not much, but its progress at this stage.
