How to delete sites from the URL field

When I click on the Address (URL) field up comes some choices that were preselected, such as Apple, Google Maps and Wikipedia.

Below that is "Frequently Visited" which has new ones that seem to be automatically added as I visit them.

Is there a way to edit/delete/add or control any of these?

I'm sorry but I don't get this: "Open the browser history and remove entries from it." It would have been a long hard search to remove the one or two I wanted gone. So I chose to "Clear History and Website Data..." which comes up under History and Safari. This did get rid of the "Frequently Visited" but left the other ones. In that list there were several that were in no way original like Wikipedia was. They were sites I had gone to and only gone to once (one time sites). Go figure.

I also tried "

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Search tab." and clicked "Show Favorites" and this got rid of everything but I only want to edit out the sites that got in there some strange way. I found no other way to get at the one time sites that popped up in this Show Favorites section.
