Q: Cannot Send Mail

The issue that I am having is that the error message says "Cannot send mail, the user or password for "SMTP:trizisky@sympatico.ca@smtphm.sympatico.ca" is incorrect."  What I don't get is where is it getting the second @ command in the address.  I have deleted the account and reset it, I have followed all the other recommendations for checking the settings.  I have upgraded and updated my IOS and repeated all the steps again.  I haven't had any success in getting my IPad2 to Send Mail again.  This worked for 4 years but stopped about a few months ago.  The only thing I haven't tried is resetting the iPad to factory settings but I am not sure I want to go that far.

    Hey trizisky,

     

     

    Wow! That definitely sounds frustrating. If the issue is only occurring when sending mail, it sounds like your outgoing mail server may be configured incorrectly. I understand that you have already check all of the settings, but let’s see if this is the culprit.

     

    Using the steps in this resource should get you to the right place. Once in the SMTP server list, click your primary server and see if the username/email address is typed incorrectly there:

    1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

     

    2. Tap the Mail account for which you would like to change the settings. If you configured your account using any of the built-in presets, IMAP, or Exchange, you may need to tap Account Info on the following screen.

     

    3. On the Account Info screen, locate the Outgoing Mail Server section and tap the existing SMTP entry. A list of SMTP servers will appear with the Primary Server and Other SMTP Servers.

    thanks Matt, when all else failed try taking a second look and I noted my password was entered incorrectly,  dote!@#$%; it took me 4 months to figure this out !@#$%
