Q: iPod Touch won't restore on new Computer

Hi,

I recently bought a new desktop (ASUS All-in-One) I loaded the latest version of iTunes but when I tried to sync my iPod Touch 4th generation with it it said it had to be reset. No problem there, I hit the restore button and now my iPod is stuck in restore mode and I keep getting a 3014 error. I have Googled the problem and tried all the fixes suggested. Nothing has fixed it.

The Network Connectivity diagnostics are fine, the firewall (Comodo) has been checked out and it isn't the problem (I even completely uninstalled it), the modem is not the problem either (it works with my other laptop).

I am at my wits end. Hope someone can help.

Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build" - Apple Support

Hi lllaass,
thanks for your reply. I've tried all those fixes. None of them worked. My iPod is still stuck in recovery mode. When I plug it in to the computer iTunes opens up and says it has detected a device in recovery mode. I then go through the restore process but I then get an error message that says: 'The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3014). When i click more information it takes me to the help article which is one of what you sent me. I go through the whole process but still have no joy.

Ok. Tried that. Same problem.

But, it seems I've managed to fix it. After an exhaustive internet search I discovered that I had made a typo when opening the ports on my modem. Duh. So, after tearing my hair out for the better part of a week the issue was my fumble fingers.
