Songs stutter/jump in new iTunes

Yeah that's the problem. Even using older versions of iTunes playing as "Windows Audio Sessions" my sound had those problems and I had to use "Direct Sound". And now this new version of iTunes just have the "Windows Audio Session" option avaliable. Apple must fix it or we have to use another music player.

The alternative downloader for 64-bit editions of Windows referenced in previous posts:

iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)

seems to address the playback issues that many users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version, including restoring the available "Play audio using:" selections in Edit > Preferences > Playback.

Exactly the same for me. - Heck, I even signed up to the forums to make everyone aware of how old my r9 290x apparently is. /serious fix please.

ps. I mainly get the stuttering while browsing. (Checked different browsers, same, searched the web, only "old" comment entries.) Tested playing songs in both vlc and win media player - no issue. -> searched on apple, found this.

i have a question before installing the version for old video card, if i install it will i loose all my playlists or do they automatically transfer within versions?? and what if i install an older version of itunes somehow??

Your library should be unaffected by installing a new/different version of iTunes, but that doesn't say that it is not a wise precaution to take a backup of it first!

Your library will be untouched as long as you leave it alone. Uninstall the current version of iTunes and the supporting components from Apple before reinstalling. For more details see the second box of Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

Downloaded the "fix" yesterday (Feb 7, '15) but last night it was stuttering again on two tracks. PC is only 6 months old; using OS Windows 8.1.

You may get some benefit from adjusting the Play audio using: option under Edit > Preferences > Playback.

Thanks, turingtest2 - but I did that yesterday and chose Direct Sound. Worked fine for awhile, but like I posted above, it's not fixed.

No - to the one for Old Video Card.

Yes I know, I was suggesting you roll back to the previous release since you're still experiencing some problems with the "for older video cards" version in place.
