Thunderbolt to DVI connector

I want to connect my Macbook pro retina to a non-Mac display with DVI connector. Will mini display port to DVI connector work? My computer does not have a mini display port interface, only thunderbolt. Can the two be used interchangeably?

Hi warlotte,

Thanks for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.

If you have an Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter, it can be used with the Thunderbolt port on your Mac to connect an external display.
