My phone charges really fast but dies faster??

When I charge my phone ot charges REALLY fast but dies faster. I want to know if its a serious probeen before I do more damage. Or if It's just my charge. but on a completely unrelated note, my phone's status bar frequently says "No Service" and every time it happens I have to reset my network settings and wait like an hour before it goes away. What can I do about any of these situations?

iPhone 5c, iOS 8.1.2

Absolutely sounds like a damaged battery.

If it is under Apple iCare, or another warranty plan, get a replacement.

If you have no coverage, you can usually find a business to replace it, or you can get a battery replacement kit for cheap from an online store like Amazon.

You can watch videos online on exactly how to do it, to see if you feel comfortable with it.

As far as the signal, does this happen only in certain locations? Does your provider have good coverage in the area?

I would recommend calling them for help with the signal, and they might even have you try another sim card.

If they can't help you fix the signal, and they have good coverage in the area, then a new phone may be in order again.

Nobody EVER suggested stealing fair business from Apple.

Sure Ford would love if you bought a new car every time the battery went out on your '69 Mustang. They will not shun you for changing it your self rather than bringing it to an Authorized Ford Dealer.

No reputable company will act this way, and it kind of sounds like you are calling Apple dishonest.

True, it will void your warranty if it IS under warranty.

That's why I listed two options.

The first being if it is covered,...the second "If you have no coverage"

Because you can NOT void a warranty where there is none.

Is it not against any policy to attempt to repair your own out of warranty phone, and IS another option for one who can not afford to replace an out of warranty phone.

It IS against Apple's policy to repair a phone that has been opened or tampered with, even out of warranty. They simply won't do it, because they DON'T repair iPhones, except for screen replacement and battery replacement. For all other out of warranty repairs they replace the phone for a flat fee, then use the returned phone for parts. But if the phone has been tampered with the parts aren't reusable because Apple has no idea of the quality of the repair.

Apple charges $79 to replace the battery. This is about 50% more than what a reputable non-Apple shop with charge. And twice what a "self-repair" will cost. But for a self-repair you are providing free labor; Apple has to pay the technicians that replace batteries, and they generally use a higher quality battery than what you can get from Amazon.

Saying that it "IS" against Apple's policy to repair a previously opened phone IS a complete different subject.

The specific claim is that opening it yourself will void the warranty.

Please show me the section in the policy which states your NON EXISTENT WARRANTY will be voided if you do it yourself.

Giving options to someone in need is NOT a crime, AND is NOT bad business for Apple either.

Apple still makes money they otherwise would not have, from many such phones.

Doing this has helped many iPhones visit the iStore another day. (which reportedly makes more revenue than device sales)
