Safari only loads search engines

Safari will only load search engines and Open X-Change Email online, but nothing else. It's slowly been getting worse to where sometimes it would only loads some web pages, and now none at all besides search engines. Any solutions?

1. Use the free AdwareMedic to remove the problem

http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php

Install , open, and run it by clicking “Scan for Adware” button to remove adware.

Once done, quit AdwareMedic.

or

Remove the adware manually by following the “HowTo” from Apple.

http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203987

2. Safari > Preferences > Extensions

Turn those off and relaunch Safari.

Turn those on one by one and test.

3. Safari > Preferences > Search > Search Engine :

Select your preferred search engine.

4. Safari > Preferences > General > Homepage:

Set your Homepage.

Note:

If you don’t have another browser installed:

Shut down the computer.

Press the power button. Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.

The Shift key should be pressed as soon as possible after startup, but not before the startup sound.

Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo on the screen. Startup will take longer than usual.

Login to your account. Launch Safari.

Follow the steps posted above to remove the adware.

Once done, quit Safari and restart the computer from  in the menu bar.

Might be a cookies, cache, extensions, plug-ins, or DNS issue.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.

Click: Remove All Website Data

Then delete the cache.

Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder

Type or copy paste the following

~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db

Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.

Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that didn't help, from the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.

Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

If it’s not a plug-in issue, open System Preferences > Network > Advanced > DNS

Click + and type:

208.67.222.222

Click + again and do the same.

208.67.220.220

Click OK.

Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

What happens when you try to load other sites?

Does this happen on all networks, or only one specific network? Does it happen in all web browsers, or just Safari (assuming you have other web browsers installed)?

Try restarting in safe mode and testing... does the problem happen then?
