Setting up Korg Taktile TR25 with Logic X

HI All,

Firstly forgive the stupidity, I'm new to this. I've just bought Logic X and a Korg Taktile TR25. On opening Logic, the Korg was recognised as a midi controller straight away and controls all the logic instruments/plugins I have with no problem.

Where I'm struggling is that I can't figure out how to get the Triton sounds to work from the synth itself? What kind of channel do I need to select? Or am I missing something else? I presume it should work through USB connection is ok and I don't need to connect it to a midi out or anything?

I've had a look online and can't seem to find anything it concerning logic x.

HELP!

Midi is not Audio.. just data..... so bear in mind you will need a way of getting the Audio from your Keyboard into your Mac..

Most people use external Audio Interfaces to achieve this... Audio outputs on your keyboard via cables to the Audio Inputs on your Audio Interface...

So... once that is understood..

The key to success is using the External Instrument plugin...

Thanks so much for your reply. My question in essence is: will the USB port from my keyboard to my computer work to record the sounds from the triton part of the keyboard?

The keyboard itself only has a USB port, a small headphone jack port, a midi port, and two jack ports for controller pedals. So I'm struggling to figure out how I get the sounds out if its not the USB port, because surely it can't be the headphone jack port?

I have recorded vocals before through my audio interface via an audio channel. But can't figure out this to save my life!

The audio out is the stereo minijack.....

You cannot get audio via it's USB.. that is for data only...

It just seems strange that it's a minijack, and in the manual it just refers to that port as headphone only. nothing about the audio out.

Would a midi to usb mean I could make it a software instrument track?

From the Tactile Triton specs...

Terminals USB (Type B), Assignable Switch (“Half-damper” is not supported), Assignable Pedal, Audio Out (Stereo mini jack type)

So that's what you have to work with.

The USB connection on your Korg, once connected to your Mac.. should let you use the Korg as a midi controller and that, by itself can then be used to play/record software instruments in Logic... You don't need anything else.... if thats all you intend to do...

You only need something else if you want to record the triton sounds from your Korg into Logic Pro....
