Time Machine backups filled my Harddrive

TIme Machine which I turned on has filled my Hard Drive with backups. I want to delete most of them.

The reason being its run out of space. The backups mean I have nowhere to store my work which is mainly Torq files, Illustrator Files. The spec for the Pro Mac Tower is : Dual 1.8 GHz Power PC G5. Memory 3 GB DDR SDRAM. Running Mac OS X Version 10.5.8. The Drive is an additional one that Appl

Those snapshots will be deleted as the system needs more memory. You don't have to remove them. If you aren't comfortable with that then read below:


About Time Machine local snapshots

Time Machine Snapshots

Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder and enter or paste the appropriate command line. Press RETURN and enter your admin password when prompted. It will not be echoed. Press RETURN again.


To turn them ON: sudo tmutil enablelocal

To turn them OFF: sudo tmutil disablelocal


Note that turning them OFF will also delete all existing snapshots.
