This forum is for help with Apple hardware and software. Other than Mail, there isn't another Apple email client.
You can access your me.com account at https://www.cloud.com. Sign in with your AppleID and password.

Jan 30, 2015 5:39 PM in response to vicki a.by Allan Jones,★HelpfulAccording to this Apple article:
iCloud: About your @icloud.com, @me.com, and @mac.com email addresses - Apple Support
having a me.com address would require that you created an e-mail account before 19 Sept 2012. Today you will have an icloud.com address.

I, too, avoided Apple mail fro a long time. When I first transitioned from OS9 to OSX, Apple Mail was pretty rough. Now I find it excellent. Because of recent problems in running Yahoo mail from a browser, I sent that account to Apple mail (under Yosemite) and life got good. Setup for Mail is much easier than older mail clients like Outlook; the latter may require a minimum of a long phone call to your ISP to set up. I set up Yahoo mail in Apple mail in under a minute!
