Jan 30, 2015 7:01 PM in response to cnewtownby Allan Jones,Looking at my MBP (2012 13-inch non-Retina) which was also a refurb, I believe you are misreading the time. Mine shows 79 percent charge and 7:08 remaining right now, but that is 7 hours 8 minutes, not 7 minutes 8 seconds. Wireless and Bluetooth are running and I do not have the screen dimmed. I believe before Yosemite OS, that indicator actually said "hours."
Still you show get more runtime on a new battery. By all means exercise your warranty rights and get Apple to review it. Make sure you aren't running any anti-viris or "cleaning" apps. They can shorten runtime.

That sounds better. You confused me with:
...only 4:49 minutes remaining.
My science-major mind saw that as 4 minutes 49 seconds.
Still, you should get more runtime. Here is another Apple article that helps with battery life and heating issues:
The article was written before OS 10.9 and 10.10, so you need to make a change in Step 3 for 10.10. To make the required change from "My Processes" to All Processes," you now need to use Activity Monitor's "View" menu:
Another thing that is not clear in the article is that you will not get good results if you run the test immediately after a restart. Use the computer normally for about a day so that any runaway processes are activated, quit any apps you launched, then run the test.
