Q: Your bootable USB drive could not be created

I've read all the previous threads about this problem. I am using Yosemite 10.10.2 and have created an iso file from a MS WIndows 7 Ultimate SP1 X64 DVD I bought from Amazon. I have followed the instructions for Boot Camp found in the pdf file from Apple and the Boot Camp Help file. I have successfully created two iso files since I was not sure the first one was a good image, although it checked out using Get Info. What do I need to do to get Boot Camp Assistant to work?

Any ideas are welcome. Thanks

The issue is that the DVD has both 32-bit and 64-bit on the same media. It needs an ISO which has one or the either, but not both.

Can you find media which has individual 32-bit and 64-bit installers and support files on separate physical media? My W8.1 has two separate DVDs, one for each installation.

1. Run the following two procedures with all external storage disconnected.

Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support
How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

2. Run BC Assistant, and check only the first two options. Once your USB2 is built, open the Bootcamp.xml file on the USB2 drive using Textedit, and look for Product Version. If it is 6.x, please follow Install Windows 7 and earlier on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support and run the steps under Perform a new install of Windows 7 and pay attention to step 11.

3. Once your USB2 is ready, connect it. Run BCA and choose the last option - 'Install Windows', partition your disk and continue with installation. Please see https://help.apple.com/bootcamp/mac/5.0/help/#/bcmp173b3bf2 for the detailed steps.

Hey,
thank you for the idea but it didn't work. I did the first step but I am still not able to move windows on the USB. It says "Boot Camp only supports Windows 7 or later installation on this platform. Please use an ISO file for Windows 7 or later installation." But I am using a Windows 7 Iso file and I just downloaded it 2 days ago so there can't be any damage..

Can you the source of the ISO to provide you a MD%sum of the ISO and compare it to the MD5sum of your copy? As a test, download W8.1 from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/home and check if you can build the USB. If you have the W7 product key, you can re-download the ISO again from this website.

Awesome, that helped me a lot. Thank you!! But now I have a new problem with installing windows. "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file." I already tried the solution you gave in another discussion but it is not working for me. I don't have a windows folder following the bootcamp path..

Is this the AppleSSD.sys driver? Is Windows Installed, or is it failing during installation?

Yes it is. No it didn't fail but i solved it now. The data was in another folder. Thanks a lot for your help!
