Q: Unable to restore iPod classic 120GB

iPod Classic 120GB bought about 4 years ago

It kept appearing in disk mode & I couldn't sync or restore after iTunes was updates to the latest version. My old windows laptop and brand new 3 days old macbook pro and iTunes on both platforms could not detect it at all. And when it finally detected, I got a 1434 error and this link http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203165.

I managed to get the iPod to restore in iTunes last night, but when it synced 2000 out of my 3000 songs, the sync just would not continue. and then the whole disk mode unable to detect in macbook pro and iTunes error happened again...

I am currently using disk utility to erase again. However, it is now stuck at the partitioning stage, and the number of hours required just keeps increasing! It’s stated as 6 hours now. Is this normal??? When will it ever stop? I've been at this for the past 8 hours!

Somebody please help.. T_T

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), null

    Update:

Forced stopped the erase. This is getting no where....

My ipod goes into disk mode automatically once it connects to my macbook pro. I open itunes and it prompts to restore. But fails.

Restore again and fail. restart macbook and restore and fail. Did this 10 times and still fail.

Tried erase under disk utility and the formatting wasn't successful.

Have searched for all sorts of solutions but does not work.

Am trying to roll back my itunes and OS to the earlier version. But the thing is, I do not have a Time Machine nor did I back up my stuff because, my macbook pro is only 3 days old!!!!!!!!

Geez... Apple please do something about this! I've been trying to restore my ipod classic for the past 3 nights and nothing works!!!
