"Airplay virus"?

Like you I'd have assumed there was a second AppleTV or Airplay device with a silly name.

Unless you live miles away from anyone else, I'd firstly change my router password and see if it goes just in case someone has managed to compromise your wifi.

You can change what you Apple TV is called. When you rebooted the retina, it might not register next doors Apple TV now...this could change if the wind/temperature/humidity/zombie invasion date, changes.

If it happens again, check your airplay device choices on an iPhone.

AirPlay is a proprietary system but there are 3rd party apps out there which are not necessarily supported by Apple, either to send or receive Airplay streams - don't suppose you have anything like that on a computer or iOS device intended to be an Airplay destination eg using iPad as a second monitor?

Do you by any chance have a Virus TI? I don't know much about these devices, but it's possible they may cause such an effect, to allow you to stream music from the Virus TI to another device through AirPlay.

Sometimes "AirPlay" icon appears on the top bar on my mac. I don't connect any devices? I did not face it for a longtime but today suddenly it appeared again when I was browsing on safari (Any applications else were working except it) So I feel suspicious about it. I go to my router's settings to page of active users of my internet to see "was anyone hacked my wifi?" but I didn't see no one else except me, after a few seconds suddenly "AirPlay" icon is gone. So it made me more worried about it. Is it a virus or something? I have a ME665LL/A and I use the latest version of the OS X (10.10.2). I hope Apple will update safety database of the os.

No I don't. I have just used hdmi cable to connect my macbook to my TV screen last summer. It was appearing normally when I connect to TV then disappears when I eject hdmi cable. Thats all normal but current ones not!

Please note that the fact that you have found a discussion online titled "AirPlay virus" does not mean that any such thing exists. It does not.

It is normal for the AirPlay icon to appear and disappear from the menu bar, based on the availability of other AirPlay devices on the network. Beyond that, I cannot help you with AirPlay issues, so if you have further questions about AirPlay, I'd suggest you start your own topic to ask about it, and forget about the possibility of a "virus."
