Thanks for the tip Omro! I never thought of that but now that you mention it.
I haven't tried it out but i was having the same issue. But  The app Duet runs on my system as well and this could be the culprit why i can't seem to turn off the "reduce transparency" option.

Yup, Thanks Omro for your tip. Duet was the 'problem' which kept on switching on "reduce transparency". Now this doesn't have to be a resolve for other who have experienced this problem but perhaps, some of them, have installed a screen sharing app of sorts? Thinking about my own issue, it seems more than logical that these two were related.

    Hi.

I also had this problem and I did try to delete preferences file. After restart macbook pro reduce transparency gone off but when Duet Display loaded it gone on again. So I delete duet display from login items and everything goes normal.

Worked for me too! I had tried deleting plist files with no luck. Turned off Duet autoloading, unchecked the box, restarted, and all is well!

    Thanks!

Awesome, Duet Display seems to be the culprit. To anyone reading this thread now, not sure if this is a newer feature of Duet Display than when this thread started, but there is now a setting for Reduced Transparency where you can tell it to Enable Transparency, which prevents this from happening (Duet menubar -> settings gear -> Reduced Transparency -> Enable Transparency (Higher Performance).
