How to change amount of space between bars in Numbers?

I've tried everything!! When I go to chart > gaps that just makes it worse. How can I make the bars closer to each other, and centered over the labels?User uploaded file

Hi Surferchick07,

Are you looking for something like this?

If so, make sure that before you create the chart you are not selecting a blank column, just the Header Column and one body column as in my example. The fact that your screenshot give you the option to set the gap Between Sets (whereas in my example I don't have that option) suggests that Numbers thinks you want to include another column there, which is likely blank.

As described above, very likely you did something like this (note the blank column with the green dot at the top). No matter how you adjust the Gaps you don't get what you want.

So simply redo* the chart, first selecting only column A and B (i.e. don't include the blank column C).

*either select cells and start again, or (after clicking the chart and then the Edit Data References rectangle) just drag the little circle lower right in the data table to the left to remove that column from the selected range that gets charted.
