Q: screen black on iphone 4. can hear ring of incoming call but can't answer

screen of iphone 4 is black. can't get home screen and when incoming call rings, i can hear it, but can't answer it. Also before this happened today, I couldn't use handset in regular talk mode. That microphone was not working. Caller could only hear when I spoke through speakerphone.

Hi there chall218,

It sounds like your phone is turning on, but the screen does not show anything and remains black. I'd recommend using the following steps specifically from the following article, named:

Get help with the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you see a solid color screen (black, white or blue)
Plug in your device to a power source. If you see the low-battery screen when you plug in, let your device charge for at least 10 minutes (20 minutes for iPad) before using it.
Reset your device while it's plugged in.
If resetting doesn’t fix the issue, restore your device.
If you still see the issue after you restore, contact Apple Support.

It also happens to me. I am using iphone 6 and the battery is full charged. When I pick up the phone, it still rings but no UI at all. I have no chance to do anything until the call is stopped. I am using the latest iOS version, 9.2.1
