Jan 31, 2015 9:42 AM in response to Mongojerryby Kappy,Turn it off or put the device into Airplane Mode, then enable only Wi-Fi.

Jan 31, 2015 9:53 AM in response to Kappyby Mongojerry,Thanks.but actually trying to use Bluetooth and pair with another device. Whenever I activate Bluetooth, it goes into the "My devices" loop. When will it stop searching? I have other devices available, but the "search" seems to hang without discovering other devices...(or AirDrop for that matter).

Jan 31, 2015 9:55 AM in response to Mongojerryby ChrisJ4203,What other devices are you trying to pair to? As far as AirDrop is concerned, you do not pair for that, you just need to have Bluetooth turned on.

Jan 31, 2015 10:39 AM in response to ChrisJ4203by Mongojerry,Actually, it was AirDrop that started it all. Went to my iPhone Center, and while Bluetooth is enabled, only Pandora appears as an active application. I went to the Bluetooth settings on the phone, and that's where I saw the app clocking. The only other device is the multi-media on a car which for now is 1500 miles away and "not connected".My wife's phone (similar 5S) which hasn't updated to 8.1.3 also doesn't display AirDrop, and similarly clocks indefinitely looking for devices, so not a 8.1.3 problem I suspect.

Jan 31, 2015 10:43 AM in response to Mongojerryby ChrisJ4203,With my phone on, if I go to the Bluetooth page in Settings, it will display what I have paired, and it will go into discovery mode and I can see "Other Devices" and the spinning wheel. That is because it is in Discovery mode. Just close out of that page and it should be fine. It doesn't stay that way for long. Again, with AirDrop, you do not pair the device, you just need to have Bluetooth turned on, not paired. The only way it will discover the other devices is if they are in discovery/pairing mode, and they support a Bluetooth profile that is supported on the phone.

Jan 31, 2015 10:53 AM in response to ChrisJ4203by Mongojerry,Thanks Chris... did not know if the searching function was precluding AirDrop from opening. On our Center (scroll up from bottom of screen) I have all the functionality (flashlight, calculator, etc.) but only Pandora displaying (no AirDrop as screenshots depict). On my wife's iPhone, just Music appears. How do I acccess / (activate?) AirDrop, which I presume is imbedded in the iOs?

Jan 31, 2015 11:30 AM in response to ChrisJ4203by Mongojerry,Thanks again Chris for your attentiveness. AirDrop doesn't appear on either iPhone and don't know how to activate / access. Trying to figure out why it's not appearing (or working).

Jan 31, 2015 11:32 AM in response to Mongojerryby Mongojerry,I've tried rebooting and then turning Bluetooth on (off before restart) and also played with booting in Airplane mode, with WiFi on and off, etc. Phone and Pandora on Bluetooth worked seamlessly when last played in a paired car system (some five months ago however).

Jan 31, 2015 12:18 PM in response to Mongojerryby JimHdk,If you use Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth On it will show previously connected devices and will continue searching indefinitely. This is how it picks up new devices as they come in range or are turned on.

Jan 31, 2015 12:29 PM in response to JimHdkby Mongojerry,Thanks for the prompt response Jim. I was trying to access AirDrop and confused that the continuous searching might be precluding AirDrop from working properly. In Control Centre, I have all the functions, but only my Pandora tunes and controls appear...no AirDrop. Same on the other 5S (this one just displays "music"). Trying to figure out how to get to AirDrop to configure. Neither phone recognizes the other even with Bluetooth on for both. Tried rebooting, toggling Airplane mode, turning WiFi and Bluetooth on and off, etc. but nothing seems to bring it up. Thought it might be a scrolling disorder, etc. but can't find anything on the 'net which doesn't assume you can see AirDrop in Control Centre.

Jan 31, 2015 1:01 PM in response to JimHdkby Mongojerry,Thanks again Jim...will contact Apple since I can't get to AirDrop thru Control Centre (on either phone). Everything assumes I can find it in Control Centre, and then debugs problems in executing (versus finding).
