pages loading very slow

My pages are loading very slow since my last update, and am getting more spam .

Mac mini (Mid 2010), OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Check/remove any malware/adware

FIrst

Remove unwanted adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac

Next

Adwaremedic: Removes all known adware from your Mac
