Vertical Purple and Green lines on start up!

Hi,

I was using Logic X (10.1) and all of a sudden my screen went totally grey and I could here a constant click on my headphones.

After about a minute my Mac restarted itself and on the startup screen displayed thick vertical purple and green lines.

Once it had finished loading up it then went on to a blank white screen and then stayed on this blank white.

I shut down my Mac the restarted it three times and have encountered the same problem every time.

Any help or advice as to what may have caused this and or how it could be fixed?

Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), I have upgraded RAM from 4GB to 8GB

Might be your Ram. Try removing one of the strips and see what happens. Try each one separately and in each slot.

Just gave that a go, even put the old RAM back in to see if it made difference, but, no unfortunately hasn't worked.

This looks like your graphics hardware has gone kaput. This resembles ongoing issues with some Apple hardware where the graphics hardware has overheated to the point of failure, resulting in crashes, and the inability to boot. This will likely require a logic board replacement to fix.

I just the same series of events happen, though I was using Mail at the time. Taking my iMac to the genius bar today...will post the results.
