Q: Ipad 4 iOS 8 keeps crashing recently

just yesterday I was playing a new game app, when all of a sudden my ipad just shut off and would not turn on... When I got home I plugged it in and it was somehow in DFU mode. I was able to get it out of DFU mode and start it back up, now it just restarts out of nowhere, when I am browsing the Internet or playing another app. Like when I went to post this post, the Safari browers loaded up and bam ipad restarts, then it worked. but I wanan know is this because of the game I was playing? And somehow my GB memory went from around 3-400 MBs to 1.3 GBs with the few crashes, but that might have been from when I backed up my iPad as soon as I was able to get it running after getting it out of the DFU mode.could it be that I have 2 many game apps that take a lot of data? I am kinda scared of playing any game because if it crashes... after the DFU mode I went and updated my iPad to iOS 8.1.3 and it still crashed. Is this a stability issue? And why would it just start all of a sudden? Would putting my iPad back to factory settings and restoring back to where my backup help at all? And if I resorted to this method does the pf backup restore EVERYTHING? Meaning my save data, ect? Thanks and look forward to the reply.

I have been having the same problem with my iPad 4 (wifi). This has been going on since I updated to 8.1.2 back in December when it was released, then 8.1.3 was released and I updated thinking it would fix it. I have tried restoring as new several times and still get the random reboots and blank screens. I don't think that restoring from a backup will be helpful. Although it wouldn't hurt to try. Im going to take to the Apple Store within the next week or so and see what the Genius bar have to say about it.

    Hello, Netherdragon.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

I understand that your iPad restarts while in use.  Here is an article that I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue.

If your iOS device restarts, displays the Apple logo, or powers off while you're using it

    Cheers,

    Jason H.

my ipad is up to date ios 8.1.3, I wonder if somehow I got a virus or maybe my iPad is overheating with the otterbox I Have? Would going to an Apple Store genus bar whatever it's called help me at all? Would factory resetting and restoring it help? Or maybe just a restore?

I made several restores and it doesn't help!

Even when restored as new iPad (not from backup file,  but just like new iPad based on Apple firmware sucked by iTunes)

My iPad 4-gen 64gb WiFi Cellular (MM) is in loop of restarts, regulary in every 2 minutes, over and over again.

Tomorrow I will visit Apple Premium Resseler because here in Poland we do not have Apple Store ... and probably I will hear that my 1,5 year old iPad is over warranty period,  and what I can do is  to leave the Store and shut the door , or buy new one to have fun ....

If you don't mind me asking, you mentioned your ipad was a year and a half old and was giving you problems once you updated to ios 8.1.2 in December, how much did this end up costing you? Also, how much time has this cost you?

    Correction:

It was mikefromga that mentioned the above. My mistake. It seemed abit odd that someone would buy a new ipad when one so new a failed for any reason.

I did not want to have to get a new one, but as mine finally completely crashed and is at the point i can not even restore it nor could Apple, when i try it never gets past the restoring process even after 3 hrs and when apple did it, they got an error 4014 i believe. So i had no choice but to get a new one, I decided to get the ipad air 32Gb wifi only when i did as it would be newer and less chance of ios 8 being bad for it. + my my family paid half of it for my school and i paid half it for non school related stuff.
