I have tried safe mode loading by holding Left Shift+Left Control while opening and same deal also while using administrator privileges while both opening and installing the program. I also tried to repair it using a new download and .exe file and using the control panel options. Still same prompt.

Hi Allen,

same issue.

I was using iTunes then I promted to do the update.

I did the update, only thing I did different from the past updates was to also update QuickTime.

restarted my PC then got the same error as above.

i've completed your suggested troubleshooting steps yesterday and I am facing the same issue.

I also upgraded my videocard and soundcard drivers.

WHat else can I try?

thank you,

Josh

Judging from some other recent threads you could try this alternate version:

iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)

Or roll back to the previous build:

See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for further advice.

I can't get any of those links you provided to install on my computer. It gets to the end and rolls back the install on each and every one of them, and just says that errors occurred.

When running 12.1.1, I didn't get any detailed error when I tried to run it and it would crash on launch, just a pop-up box that says "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.

Those links have become dated. There are up to date ones in user tip. It is important to completely clean out the old installation before trying to reinstall so I'll repost my current boilerplate here.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies. The notes below the box include tips on removing troublesome components.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

If you still don't have any luck try the process given in Install missing components. If that still produces errors I can show you how to generate a detailed log of the installation which might pinpoint where things are going wrong.
