suspicious email

I got a phishing email today and reported it to reportphishing@apple.com after talking to an Apple rep. Here's what the (partial) email looks like. It includes a link to what looks like the official Apple ID site, which asks for your SSN. Apple does not ask for your SSN and does not terminate accounts. If you want/need to terminate your account, you need to talk directly to Apple. This scam looks official and connects to the Apple site. What tipped me off was the iCloud Guru, return email address, Luxembourg copyright and the url which was displayed: Had the little apple logo but was followed by something like "date update" or "date store." If you get anything like this, scrutinize carefully and report it to Apple.

Thanks for posting this!

I got an email like this today. The date is today's (Feb 03 2015) and the "Final Notice" states that termination will also happen today. So clearly they are trying to create a sense of urgency so you click on that "verify account" button.

If the past is any indication, Apple would have been sent many, many notices well in advance of the date of termination.

DON'T Click that link!!!

Thanks again.
