CAN'T VIEW MY QUICKTAKE 150 PHOTOS

I have hundreds of photos taken with an old QT 150, how do I view them on my G-5. PhotoShop said it didn't have enough memory

G5, Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Quicktake Software runs on Classic! I have anasty feeling that you cannot reun Classic on a G5 (but don't quote me on that ...) my QT 150 works on my G3, and then I transfer the images on my flash drive to my G4.

If you go to http://more-information.net.au and send me an email from the "contact" link, I will send you the QT150 software.

The whole package is 10 MB, but there are links on other pages in the forums to the software if you look.

The original files were saved on to a Zip disk and then copied to CD. When I try to open up the files directly from the CD, ( on my G5 running 10.4.8 ) preview opens up and displays a window that reads, "QuickTime and a QuickTake decompressor are needed to see this picture" When the same photo is dragged into PhotoShop 7.0 the same message appears........ When the same photo is opened in my T.A.M. running 8.6 and PhotoShop 5.0 a message reads that there is not enough RAM... Opening it up in PhotoShop 5.0 with traslation, a window opens up like it would if the photo was going to open but instead, it's just blank....... I even installed software for a QuickTake 200 and a window opens up like it would if the photo was going to open but instead, it's just blank...... I don't know what else to do...

TJ,

Forgive me for not rereading the entire post to see if you have an older system listed, but if you do, try connecting up to a classic Mac and taking a new photo and viewing it. I have forgotten what 'save as' options the original software allowed. Work on getting legacy software to work on legacy equipment to recreate a path to the future.

I will have to look for the original software. It is most likely at school.

I'm pretty sure that the QuickTake 150's file format is PICT which QuickTime dropped support for long ago. You either have to use the PhotoFlash software that came with the camera to open each image and save it as a JPEG or other format.

A better option was QuickTake Drop, software that enabled you to drag and drop the original files and it automatically converts them to JPEGs.
