Unable to resize width of columns on Devices in iTunes

While in iTunes, (12.1) Mac Version, I can barely see the column separators, and I rely on my cursor hovering to find them. When in my Music Library, and if I click on the right hand side to songs, I still have my adjustable sliders. When I plug in any device, and click on the device in the top left corner of iTunes, I get the "On My Device" choice in the Menu. When I click on Music on my device, the default size column appears, and seems to have NO WAY to adjust the width on the columns anymore. I have the cursor showing up and down in the divider from the artists into the grey menu bar, but nothing moves, even with this cursor. I have played with this for approximately 30 minutes, and am ready to pull out the remainder of my hair. I just want to read artists and titles on my Apple devices with the ease of previous iterations of iTunes, or even with the clarity of the older systems of the eighties and nineties. Adjusting your own input SHOULD NOT BE SO DIFFICULT. Please, some one let me know WHAT I AM DOING WRONG.

How can I adjust my columns to read what is on my devices?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Thanks so much for your response Kangolman, while this is not exactly what I was looking for, (the ability to manually space my columns), it will do.

I totally forgot the old right clicking, and it is not mentioned in the menu unless you right click, so you have helped immensely! I liked the old way of manually adjusting each column wider to more easily read them due to focus with my bifocals.I am able to see them more clearly now, so thank you again for your concise response, and it's great seeing Mac folks helping each other!

I have the same question (how do you resize device columns) running iTunes 12.2.2.25 on a Windows 10 PC. Using the auto resize does not work for me since I have a few songs and artists with long names, causing my columns to be extremely wide. I also can't undo this, so now I'm in worse shape than when I started. I now have to scroll to see any columns other than Name, Time and Artist. I agree with John that this should not be so difficult or impossible. In addition to not being able to resize device columns, I also can't sort device columns. It's as though basic column functionality is missing from itunes device columns. A fix or solution would be greatly appreciated.

User uploaded fileHi DDboy3; if you look at the basic set up on the screen shot, you'll see that my playlist has the information on top of what is in my library , then below it is broken up by genre, artists, and albums. Below that, I can move the columns to fit any size I wish that are listed as name, whether they are in the cloud or on my drives, then, last played, then artist, then album, and if I slide to the right, more info. please note all these columns can be re sized just by hovering over the dividers

I have enclosed another screen shot below showing how I have changed by dragging the columns on the 3rd section down to fit my needs.

User uploaded file I find that keeping it all in songs, then breaking down my choices via songs options, (clicking on songs, top right of browser, choosing my sort options, then below that, choosing my column choices on the right side of the browser window) I have quite a bit of room to move whatever I wish. I'd also like to say that Tim Cooks' office liason personally called me with this info, with a simple explanation that the top windows resize with your movements, and give you your over all contents as you click on the choice you wish to see. below, you have the options to set it as you wish depending on the size of the window you wish to use. I was very impressed and surprised that Mr. Cook took the time to read my mail, and even had his office find my issues, and help me solve them to my satisfaction. I'm hoping the options are the same on the windows version as they are on the mac, and that this helps you along to an easier browsing experience. Best of Luck!

Also wanted you to note that as you click on the genre, artist, and album, the top highlighted info will change depending on what you are highlighting. at times it's confusing, such as the beatles only show 2 albums in the contextual menu, but if I go to artists mode, as you see here, I've got quite a bit more than 2 albums... hope this will assist a bit more.User uploaded file

my apologies; and I see your issue. you may have to deal with the long album names or just uncheck them or another column as you right click upon the menu bar beneath the three main columns to make them as easy as possible to read. the three main categories work just like iTunes, but there is no option to move a specific column below. I've shot another image showing the selections you can make on the columns regarding what they show, but you are correct in that you must either autosize an individual column, or auto size all columns. hopefully this will help a bit. When you check or uncheck the items to be viewed, you are changing the overall size and viewing area on your browser. you can do a column, or undo it simply by checking or unchecking as shown in my shot on the right side.
