Q: Really bad WiFi connections

At times I have really bad WiFi connectivity. How do I tell where the problem is? Is the problem my new MacBook Pro (Model Identifier MacBookPro11,3), an Apple AirPort Express, an Apple AirPort Extreme, or my ISP? Sometimes the throughput drops to kbs rather than mbs. The slowness is really frustrating.

 

My MBP is at 10.10.2. The two AirPort devices are current on their patches, etc. How can I determine where the problem is? Do I need new AirPort devices?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), 16GB core, 1TB DASD
