    Hey Sofea,

When you are contacted directly by email or other means asking you to click on a link, it is important that you know that such a link is legitimate. See this article about fraudulent emails and links -

Identifying fraudulent "phishing" email - Apple Support

    Specifically -

Check that the website you're accessing is legitimate

If you think the URL is legitimate and you click on the link, you can still check that it's a trusted website and business. Modern browsers like Safari 5, Firefox 7, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer 10 display the company name in green if the site has been issued an Extended Validation (EV) Certificate and is a legitimate website/business.

The iCloud service uses EV Certificates. Just look at the address bar in your web browser when you log in to iCloud.com. You will see "Apple, Inc." displayed in green, so you know that the site is legitimately Apple:

    Firefox

You may note that the link you were pointed to does NOT contain any such authentication.

Do not use your Apple ID to sign in to it. If you have already done so, you should change your Apple ID password immediately using the web form at https://appleid.apple.com.

If you entered and sent your Apple ID then, yes, they can unlock and use your phone. As long as you didn't send that info you should be OK. But I suggest changing the password you use for your Apple ID and any other accounts the phone might access.

They can spoof your number to send a text

I would not correspond with them at all

Report it to the police if you can

No - you cannot get IP address from a phone number

They may be trying to get you to release your Apple ID so that they can actually use your phone (which is useless to them at the moment)

    Hello,

I also received a message from a very short number (1711) saying: Your lost iPhone 6 registered online at 10:35 EET, login at http://goo.gl/izkyoo to track your device, FindMyiPhone Security Ticket Number: 91992FR_US.

Is this a legitimate message? I entered on my icloud account and the phone is still offline.

Should I go back to the police with this message? Can it help find my iphone?

    Thank you for your reply,

    Gabriela

It was a fake message.  If you entered your AppleID and password, the thief used them to activate the phone.  You will not get it back.  You should change that password.  The thief could use it to buy things using your iTunes account.
