Q: Apps & storage

Suddenly my apps are taking up over 60 gb of storage on my Macbook Air. I have not downloaded any new ones but the size has been increasing. Any advice on what could be causing this and how to clean it up? Thanks.

MacBook Air (11-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

   Re-index Macintosh HD.

   Spotlight reindexing will take a while to finish.

   System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy

   You will see a new category “Other” in the Storage Display.

      About “Other”:

Note:
If you don’t have Macintosh HD icon on the desktop,

Finder > Preferences > General > Show these items on the desktop:

Enable “Hard disks”.
