My macbook audio is panned to the left!

Hi there,

I have found that when listening to my macbook audio through the headphone socket it is panned more to the left than the right. I have tried it with many different pairs of earphones and stereo sound system but the audio is still panned the the left. Please may you give me any advice to fix this please?
