Q: Mission Impossible new MBP Windows 7

Hello,

I just got a brand new MBP and I have been wrestling with it to install Windows 7 on this machine.

Now I am at a point where I have installed Windows 7 successfully but I have no way of installing the drivers needed.

What I did:

1 - Use Bootcamp to make windows partition

2 - Original W7 Iso on USB 2.0

3 - Copy the files of the ISO on Bootcamp partition (in order to prevent " no device drivers found"  problem when the installation starts - because this MBP has only 3.0 ports therefore it's impossible to get it to work otherwise)

4 - At the installation process Windows tells me that it cannot install windows on the partition because it's not NTSF

5 - I format the drive at the installation process

6 - Installation starts and finishes

Now I'm in windows but I do not have any drivers installed. That's because I needed to format the partition before Windows was able to use the Bootcamp support software. In Windows all the input ports do not work, no sound and no WiFi (because of no drivers).

What I did with my previous MBP is to get a LAN cable, use the internet to get the drivers. But with this MBP, there is no LAN cable input.

And since no other input/wifi is working - I am unable to transfer the support drivers for installation.

Can someone help me with this? Im troubleshooting for hours and I cannot seem to find a way to install W7 on the new MBP.

I would be grateful!! - All the tutorials I've read today were of no use.

Looking forward to get some help

Best Regards

The Windows installer has USB2.0 drivers, but does not have USB3 drivers. This method of installation is very interesting though.

Power cycle your Mac and hold the Alt key and boot into OSX. Using Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems - Apple Support find the correct drivers for your model and download them to a USB2 flash drive. Boot into Windows using System Preferences -> Startup Disk -> Bootcamp -> Restart. After Windows is up, plug in this USB2 and run setup.exe from the Bootcamp folder.

Thank you - but that doesn't work. The USB controller drivers are not installed therefore no usb will work.

But after a hard battle I found a solution.

Basically I followed a guide: "Enable NTFS write support on Yosemite" and I managed to drop the drivers on the NTFS drive from the Mac drive. And then installed all the drivers one by one in windows

It seems that Apple is making it harder and harder for people to get Windows on their Mac. It's amazing how many problems I encountered the whole day...

What year/model is your Mac? If you have a built-in Optical drive, is it fully functional?

It's just a week old. It has no build in optical drive, only 3.0 usb ports, no LAN input. Therefore it was quite difficult to get W7 working.

A TB-to-Ethernet adapter is always handy.
