Maintenance mode after update of iOS

Hi,

my wife just updated her new (2 months) iPhone 6 to new iOS - or at least she tried.

She did that via WLAN when all of a sudden it said that she had to dock it to iTunes.

Then iTunes said that the phone is in maintenance mode and only option is to reset it.

First I tried to hold home button and power button for 10 seconds but that didnt help :-(

So I resetted the iPhone via iTunes (it downloaded like 1GB of data...!), it unpacked the date, installed the software aaaand.... again maintenance mode!!

Error (9)

I restarted iMac, iTunes is up to date. No security software disturbing.

I just cant get that f§$% iPhone out of maintenance/service mode!

Of course the telephone service is sleeping already... (wasn't that a 24h line before?)

PLEASE HELP!

She needs that mobile in 7h for work!

Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:

Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.

1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the

other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.

2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds

until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.

* If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the

Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,

release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.

3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the

device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,

let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some

charge, and then start with step 2 again.

4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.

When this screen appears you can release the Home button:

5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:

6. Use iTunes to restore the device.

If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.

Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

Thanks Kappy for the answer but the problem is that I do see the "connect to iTunes" screen and I do see the iPhone in iTunes.

And it even does update for 10 minutes, unpack, install etc.

BUT at the end it is always again in recovery mode!!!

I tried 4 times now... no idea what else to do.

edit: just tried again and when iTunes said "waiting for iPhone" and the device restarted I saw a pure red screen on the iPhone for a tenth of a second before it turned of and showed the "connect to iTunes" screen again.

Error 9 is usually caused by the presence of security software on your computer interfering with the restore attempt. Here's the link to the Apple support page with the iTunes error codes:

Check your security software

Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.

Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't preventing a connection to the Apple servers.
